Riabilitiamo Frank Costello

Attraverso questo Blog intendo riabilitare la figura di Francesco Castiglia nato a Lauropoli frazione di Cassano Ionio il 26 gennaio 1891 figlio di Luigi e Maria Saveria Aloise Castiglia e morto a New York il 18 Febbraio 1973 conosciuto in tutto il mondo come Frank Costello-Primo Ministro della malavita- Un personaggio che mi ha sempre affascinato non come imprenditore della malavita ma come uomo intelligente e scaltro che e riuscito da povero figlio di emigranti Calabresi a diventare il Re incontrastato di New York. Chissà quante volte nella sua lunga vita,ha ricordato con nostalgia i primissimi anni della sua infanzia trascorsi sotto il sole di Calabria,una terra che gli apparteneva e sicuramente non ha mai dimenticato a conferma di quanto dicono i Gesuiti “dacci tuo figlio i primi cinque anni di vita e sarà sempre nostro”. Perchè riabilitarlo? Perché i suoi eventuali crimini sono stati niente a confronto di quelli che si compiono oggi e per i quali si prova indifferenza.,la malavita ai tempi del proibizionismo,appare oggi come una associazione di boy scouts !

Through this Blog I intend to rehabilitee the figure of Francesco Castiglia, born in Lauropoli, a borough of Cassano Ionio on Jan 26, 1891, son of Luigi and Maria Saveria Aloise Castigla, and died in NY Feb 18, 1973, known to all the world as Frank Costello -- Prime Minister of the Underworld -- a personality who has always fascinated me not as a schemer of crime but as a man intelligent and shrewd who rose from a poor son of emigrant Calabrese to become the uncontested King of NY. Who knows who many times in his long life that he remembered with nostalgia the very first years of his infancy spent under the sun of Calabria, a land that belonged to him and surely that he never forget, confirming what the Jesuits say: 'Give me your son for the first five years of life and he will always be ours." Why do I rehabilitate him? Because his eventual crimes were nothing in comparison with those committed today with proven indifference. The Underworld of the time of Prohibition appears today like an association of Boy Scouts!"
